The Fraser Valley Invitational 2012 hosted by the Langley Camera Club was held on May 5, 2012 at the Chief Sepass Theatre in Fort Langley and as usual was a very successful event. There were thirteen clubs entered from the lower Mainland in this competition and the theme was “Street”, and as expected there was a lot of “Street Photography”.

For a club sometimes (I hope affectionately) referred to as “bunch of bird shooters”, Lions Gate Camera Club made a very impressive showing coming in First in the club competition, not by much, but a win is a win. We won the club competition with 202 points followed by the Delta Photo Club at 201.5 points. The North Shore Photographic Society was third with 199 points and Crescent Beach came fourth with 198, a very close competition.

We were also fortunate to have one of our members with the highest score of the evening. Peter Hanlan won First Place with his image “Break Time”, a gritty, but impactful shot.

Congratulations Peter, and congratulations to the rest of the team, Eric Hackman, Willow Penno, Pam Lucke, Virginia Hayes, Rene Watteel, Leslie Nelson, Wes Bergen, Hamid Ebrahimi and Urs Boxler.
